On December 21, 2021, Birdon delivered the third 47’ Motor Lifeboat (MLB) to the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). This vessel will be based on the West Coast and is one of the 117 vessels that Birdon has redesigned and is upgrading for the USCG.
The MLBs are an important part of the Coast Guard’s national security strategy, and as an all-weather fast response vessel, they are used to patrol vast areas of the country’s coastline. These vessels are designed to operate in intense surf, extreme hurricane force weather conditions, and are rollover capable, meaning that they self-right if capsized and continue operations. Birdon is proud to be partnering with the USCG to upgrade these important national assets.
